Winter 2010-11 Instructional Programs An Ice Day (Beginners Ice Climbing) This course will introduce you to the sport of ice climbing. By the end of the course you will have learned the basics of ice climbing in a top-rope environment. Most students climb a minimum of 300 feet in this course Date: Every Saturday all winter long (private dates for groups) 1/3 Day Theory, and 2/3 Day On-Ice Group size: Minimum of 4, Maximum of 6 per instructor. Ice 2 Course (Level 2 Ice Climbing) With the completion of this course you will gain the skills and understand the concepts required to ice climb safely in a top-roped environment. You will be capable of setting up a slingshot top belay system with climbers of equal or greater ability. Date: Every Sunday all winter long (private dates for groups) Group size: Minimum of 4, Maximum of 6 per instructor. Intermediate Ice (Learning to Second a climb) In this course you will learn the skills and concepts required to "second" a single or multi-pitch ice climb to grade 3 in difficulty. Upon completion you should be confident and capable of participating in a multi-pitch climb and a rappel descent with a climber of greater ability, capable of leading a grade 3 Ice wall. Date: Scheduled for Monday-Tuesday all winter long with 1 evening session on Monday. OR choose a weekend Group size: Minimum of 2, Maximum of 4 per instructor.
Advanced Ice (Learning to Lead a climb) Upon completion of this course you will have gained the skills, concepts and experience necessary to lead a single or multi pitch ice climb up to grade 3 in difficulty. We will cover single versus double rope technique of ice climbing. Date: Scheduled for Wednesday-Thursday all winter long with 1 evening session on Wednesday. OR Choose a weekend.
